Code of Conduct for 2026 Texas Tribune Festival
Remain neutral: The Texas Tribune provides free, trustworthy, nonpartisan news and information online and through public events. Please do not share your personal opinions while you are volunteering or wearing a volunteer shirt.
Act responsibly and ethically: Volunteers power the Festival, but are not Texas Tribune staff. Please do not misrepresent your role at the Festival or the Tribune.
Ask for help: If you see something, say something. Bring any concerns or issues you encounter to a Texas Tribune staff member.
Be respectful: Guests are invited to think critically and respectfully challenge what they hear and see. Please do not engage with guests who are heated. If you feel like things are getting out of hand, contact your Tribune staff supervisor or the Volunteer Coordinator.
Honor differences: The Tribune will not tolerate discrimination (including age, sex, race, color, creed, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, disability, marital status or any other legally protected basis under federal, state or local laws, regulations or ordinances).
Be a good host. : Do not disclose nonpublic financial or operational information, personal information regarding other employees or Tribune donors or constituents, confidential information or anything to do with a legal issue. Do not use offensive language or language that is defamatory, obscene or harassing.
Only wear your #TribFest26 Volunteer shirt during your volunteer shift: If you plan to attend any panels before/after your shift is over, please plan to change out of your volunteer shirt.
